For some reason, this time in the clinic, I haven't been allowed into the feeding room to hold Gretchen. It's probably just as well because I was terribly ill on Friday, but the nurse told Maggie today that if I wanted to go in, I would have to be snuck in after midnight. I can understand their reasoning, but not their vigilance. There are four babies in the nursery now, and the feeding room, where I was able to hold Franklin two years ago, is often in use by newborns hanging out with their mothers hanging out with their mammaries hanging out. But, it's impossible that at any one moment there are two of eight boobs occupying the room. Rules are rules, and I bent them enough today to sweet talk the nurse into letting me take a couple of pictures and caress Gretchen's head. Wednesday is my day to hold the girl and never put her down.
