Papa Throws Down the Gauntlet

There's another Batt on the way, and she's got her dad's nose (poor girl). Maggie's due date is December 15th (Franklin's 2nd birthday) and we're expecting her any time in the next--oh gracious, you can't put a timetable on things like this (you didn't know I did impressions, did you?) Traditional Chinese wisdom says that baby #2 shows up early, but my friend Martin, a second son, in NY says he was about a week late.

That said, if anyone would be interested in getting in on a Nativity Pool, please email me with your guesses for Date/Time and birth weight in kilograms (kg=lbs x 0.45). The sex of the baby having already been determined, gender guesses are not required.

The last time I won one of these, the prize turned out to be "Honor." I'm not saying that was a disappointment, but...this time, too, there will be no engraved trophies sent out to the winners. I told Sarah that the winner would get a phone call from the delivery room and get to listen to the whole procedure up until the baby's cry and her father's fainting on the floor. Sarah doesn't think that sounds like much of a prize. And so the pendulum swings back towards Honor.

At any rate, the latest measurement of fetal weight was approx. 2.8 kg. Franklin was born at 4.1kg and his last ultrasound measurement put him 800g under that. Maggie read somewhere that babies gain about 28g a day in the womb. This may be more math than some of you care to deal with, certainly the case for me.
