We stopped in at the doctor's on Tuesday morning. There's nothing happening. That is, Gretchen's heart is beating, and she's up to 2.8kg (give or take 800 grams), and she's squirming in Mama's belly, but she hasn't made up her mind to take a taste of the Taiwan atmosphere. Actually, apart from the weight she's carrying around her middle, and the fact that it seems to keep dropping lower and lower, these past couple of days Maggie has felt pretty fit, and has even been up and out for walks. The woman at the orange juice stand on DaTun Rd suggested that she scrub the floor of the living room on her hands and knees. Apparently such an action is guaranteed to spark labor within three hours. Maggie's not going for it.
I'm wondering whether the baby will show up before we get a license to open our school. We've been waiting for both for about the same period of time. The license, we expected in June. Gretchen's due date remains December 15th (her brother's birthday) but it seems that everyone knows that second babies arrive much earlier than their due date. Two or three weeks ago, I predicted that she'd come out in December, and barring a very dramatic dinner this evening, I am likely to be right.
